Renee Sterling
Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
Hi! I’m Renee and I work with individuals, couples, and families. I help people struggling with:
- Happiness and satisfaction in life
- Difficult childhoods, trauma, and repeating patterns of reactive responses
- Anxiety, Stress, and Anger
- Hurtful couple dynamics and stuck patterns
- Emotional regulation and self-care
- Challenges that life transitions present
My systems education helps me see the stuck patterns of relationships – those patterns that we know we are repeating over and over again and we just can’t seem to stop. I work with couples on understanding the protective and defensive ways they are wired and how they need to relate differently, to hear and understand and have compassion for one another. I teach communication skills and work toward decreasing reactive states and increasing healthy communication and connection.
My work with families follows the same principles. I offer family therapy to parents and their teens or adult siblings.
Working with me means understanding who you are and how you got stuck. I’ve always had a passion for working with people and I appreciate the connection I have with my clients. I provide a safe and non-judgemental space to heal difficult experiences, including past and current trauma, abusive/ toxic relationships, anxiety, stress, and depression.
My previous clinical experience includes working with Children, Families and Couples who have, and were still, experiencing different levels of trauma. I’ve learned the power of sitting with client. During those times I’ve also held individual, family, and groups. I’ve worked with a diverse group of individuals.
